    Founders Week

Along with all other Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools, this week Saint John's recognizes and honors the Xaverian tradition that laid the foundation for over 100 years of educating young men.

What does it mean to be part of a Xaverian school community? Students and teachers are exploring that during this annual week of activities and events that unites Xaverian schools.

Annual Founders Week celebrations, held during the week of the Feast of Saint Francis Xavier, include Founders Day Mass, Belgian Waffle Breakfast, and week-long recognitions of how different members of the SJ community live out Xaverian values.

Founders Week is a yearly reminder of how the thriving Saint John's community of today would not exist without the strong foundation established by the Xaverian Brothers.Learn more about who the Xaverian Brothers are today.

Saint John's, one of thirteen Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools around the country, manifests daily the Xaverian values of simplicity, compassion, trust, humility, and zeal. Throughout the 2013 Founder's Week, students spent time learning about the Xaverian roots of the school in addition to recognizing how their peers and mentors live out those values on a daily basis.

    5th Annual Belgian Waffle Breakfast
    Tuesday, December 1

During this annual tradition, students and faculty are invited to campus ministry before school to have some Belgian Waffles in honor of the founding of the Xaverian brothers. The Xaverian Brotherhood was founded by Theodore James Ryken, and originated in Bruges, Belgium. Before school, more than 200 students lined up outside of campus ministry to enjoy Belgian Waffles piled high with maple syrup and ice cream!

Check out pictures of this popular Founders Week event!

To open up Founders Week, Campus Ministers went around to all of the lunches asking every table Saint John's, the Xaverian Brothers, and Theodore James Ryken trivia questions. Students who answered correctly won prizes.

The school community celebrates the Feast of St. Francis Xavier on December 3, 2015 at the Founders Day Mass.

On the final day of Founders Week, students are invited and asked to come to campus ministry to write a thank you letter to a Xaverian Brother. Students have the option over the course of the week to stop by Campus Ministry and write letters to Xaverian Brothers. Today, there are brothers ministering in ten countries across four continents.

As the Xaverian motto has inspired over a century of education based on the notion of inspiring and molding the whole person, Concordia res parvae crescunt...In harmony, small things grow!
