Reception brings newest Pioneer parents together

The Freshman Parents Reception gave parents of the Class of 2019 an introduction to the SJ community.

Every fall, parents of the newest class of Pioneers have the chance to meet and mingle. The 2015 event was co-sponsored by three graduates from the Class of 1989 and their spouses, all of whom have sons in the Class of 2019. Special thanks go to generous hosts Michael and Maria Cotoia, Justin and Heather Maykel, and Joseph and Charlene Stolberg.

During the reception in the Salem Student Commons, 194 current parents, whose sons are in their second month as Pioneers, got to know each other and shared stories about navigating the first few months of life as parents of high schoolers.

Those gathered heard stories from Annual Fund Director Pam LaBove on her own experiences as a parent of SJ grads. Michael Cotoia and Heather Maykel shared their perspectives on how Saint John's shapes young men and the importance of getting involved in the Saint John's community.

The Saint John's experience far outlasts the four years of high school - it is a community that has only strengthened over time. Thriving academics, athletics, and extracurricular programs in addition to a vibrant alumni community are hallmarks of Saint John's High School. Freshman parents, whether new to the school or returning, were welcomed into that community during this wonderful event.
