28th SJMUN Conference

The 28th Saint John’s Model United Nations Conference took place on Saturday, October 24th, bringing 450 people to the school.

Saint John's students and teachers were among the 450 MUN-ers who participated in this SJMUN tradition. 60 Saint John’s students participated in the conference, serving in executive roles, running or helping run one of the 14 committees or participating as a delegate.

Former Consul-General to Peshawar Pakistan and lifelong United States Foreign Service member, Jon Danilowicz ‘85 served as the keynote speaker. Mr. Danilowicz did a great job talking to the conference’s participants about his career in the state department and how the Xaverian education that he received at Saint John’s helped in higher education and his long career in the Foreign Service. The Conference was run excellently.

Christian Suglia ‘16
served as the Secretary General of SJMUNC and did a fantastic job, overseeing the largest SJMUNC to date and ensuring it ran smoothly and effectively. He was assisted by Executive Officer Cory Sagerstrom ‘16, Technology Director Alex Crolais ‘16, and received additional help from CFO Brian White ‘17.

All conference staff, both executives and committee chairs, did an excellent job. Faculty Moderators Chuck Abdella ‘92, John Berger and Kevin Browne were also a tremendous help and were recognized in the Conference’s closing ceremonies for “their invaluable and tireless work for this conference and Model UN at Saint John’s in general” by President Nathaniel Newman. SJMUNC XXVIII was an unqualified success!
