Colby Fisher offered his reflection on joy in the Advent season

Advent Prayer Service brings reflection to community

In this year of mercy, the school reflected together on where to find joy and offer mercy in our lives and in the world at the 2015 Advent Prayer Service.

The Saint John’s Concert Band, Chorus, and Jazz Ensemble performed several selections for the full Coaches Pavilion at the prayer service. Rev. Ed Niccolls '66 offered the gosepl reading. All faculty, staff, and 1,000 students gathered to hear reflections on embracing joy despite all odds from senior Colby Fisher and learning mercy even in the most difficult circumstances from Library Director Ms. Stephanie O'Donnell.

Rob Chare of the South Worcester Neighborhood Association attended the service to collect the many gift donations gathered by the Saint John’s community this month and Mr. Steve Linde spoke on behalf of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Main South, thanking the SJ community for the many generous donations of gifts that will go to 1,000 children in the area this Christmas.

XAVERIAN VALUE AWARD WINNERS

During the Advent Prayer Service, five students were nominated by their peers for Xaverian Value Awards, which recognize students who exemplify the five core values that make up the Xaverian charism.

Congratulations to sophomores Peter Oliver (Humility) and Robert Wickstrom (Trust) and seniors Joe Wall (Simplicity), Mike Herlihy (Zeal), and Curtis Bynum (Compassion) for their devotion to others in their community and unique examples of how the Saint John's mission is manifested in students today.
