SJLI kicks off year of leadership

Most of the new seniors spent a week exploring the SJ brotherhood and leadership on retreat.

For 39 years, the Saint John's Leadership Institute has increased in popularity, and is now the largest single retreat offered at Saint John’s.

During the second week of August, over 70% of the rising senior class gathered together for small group discussions, team-building and communication activities, shared prayer, presentations by recent grads on individual gifts and servant leadership. as well as a day of service at sites around Worcester.

This retreat bonds the senior class in preparation for their year as leaders of the school, all while balancing school and work obligations and preparations for college. Graduate leaders who themselves are soon off to college led small groups geared towards discussions of one another’s gifts, limits, desires, and relationships.

From Freshman Retreat to Kairos and SJLI, retreats at Saint John’s have undoubtedly assisted students in their growth. Programs like SJLI allow students to take the torch as new leaders in the community, discovering and building on their own unique gifts and talents, recognizing where their limits can let others hold them up.
