Congratulations to the Class of 2013!
The 252 members of the graduating class of 2013 will be matriculating to over 160 different colleges and universities, and five will move on to military academies in the fall.

SJ students, faculty, alumni & friends give back at 11th Annual Service Day

Saint John's actors receive recognition for work in theatrical productions
Peter Hodskins '13, Taylor Nardonne '13, and Luke Dombrowski '15 were recently recognized for their work with Theater at the Mount Youth Award (TAMY) "Best Featured Actor" nominations. The 2012-13 Saint John's productions Godspell and Guys and Dolls garnered nominations in six categories.
SJ runs and walks in solidarity with victims of the Boston Marathon
   On Friday May 3, the SJ community gathered at the track to pay tribute to the Boston Marathon victims. Over 100 gathered to run a mile in honor of those affected by the tragedy. Math teacher Chris Benestad, who ran in the 2013 Boston Marathon, gave a talk at the start of the walk/run on the unbelievable solidarity and positivity that resulted not only in the Boston area but around the world.





Students encounter faith and service on spring break immersion trips
Groups of students and faculty spent their spring breaks at sites across the country, engaging in service work and community outreach programs. Senior Chris Ellis hopes for another strong season
The Varsity Tennis player who has been to the Division 1 State Final each of the last three years with the team, was featured in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette describing his hopes and high expectations for the strong group of Pioneers in 2013.
Mark Shriver challenges SJ community to be contemplatives in action

Mark Shriver, author of A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sargent Shriver, visited Saint John's to address students, their families and friends of the SJ community on April 3. Reflecting on stories of his father's work in the public eye as a constant advocate for the marginalized, Mark's message was one of maintaining faith, hope, and love in our daily lives. See photos of the lecture, reception and book signing that followed Mark's talk. Mark also came back to Saint John's for a fishbowl discussion with students the next day in Campus Ministry.


Global Encounters 2013 Haiti
A group of eight students led by Campus Minister Mike Nicholson and faculty member Timothy Williams spent February vacation building roads, painting fences, and making new friends in Haiti. They worked with the locally-founded organization Be Like Brit, an orphanage that is in its first months up and running in Grand Goâve, Haiti.

Madeleine Albright pays SJ Model UN a visit
Prior to her lecture on January 23, former UN ambassador Madeleine Albright surprised the Model UN Club, which was hosting its 40th Anniversary celebration. See some moments from the visit here!
Basketball Coach Bob Foley Reaches 800th Win
Coach Bob Foley, the all-time winningest coach in Massachusetts, who on January 15th reached his 800th career win, brought the Pioneers to an 80-37 victory over Holy Name. He has been the Saint John's Head Basketball Coach since 1980, and is in his 50th year as a high school basketball coach.

Senior Runner Places 22nd at Nationals
Congratulations to senior Cross Country runner Jonathan Green, who placed 22nd at the National Championship Race in San Diego on December 8th. He qualified for Nationals after placing second at the Footlocker Northeast Regionals in New York last month.
Former Abdella Center speaker Professor Michael Sandel named in Foreign Policy's Top 100 Thinkers of 2012
Professor Michael Sandel, who addressed the Saint John's community in April 2012, was recently recognized in Foreign Policy's top 100 Global Thinkers of 2012 for his bold exploration of ethics and inequality in the world today and the worldwide popularity of his lectures. FP Magazine's annual list profiles the most prominent thinkers and ideas from around the globe.
Saint John's Celebrates its Xaverian Roots with Belgian Waffles!
As a part of Founders Week celebrations and reflections, Campus Ministry hosted a breakfast of Belgian Waffles for over 200 students.
Mrs. Mary Iuso Receives 2012 Ryken Award
During the Feast of Saint Francis Xavier Mass, which kicked off Founders Week, Mrs. Mary Iuso was recognized for truly embodying the Xaverian charism of compassion in her unfailing commitment to the students and Saint John's community as a whole.
The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Robert McManus.
Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Concert
On Sunday, December 2 at 4:30, Saint John's hosted the Second Annual Tree Lighting on the Green, followed by the Holiday Concert.

Academic Decathlon Takes Home Awards
Congratulations to the Ac-Dec Team for a great performance at last weekend's tournament. The team took home a Gold in the Economics category and Silver in the Language and Literature category. Saint John's will be hosting the State Finals Academic Decathlon in March.
Winter Sports starting Monday 11/26/12
Winter Sports tryouts will begin on Monday, 11/26/12.

Saint John's Model UN Conference
Saint John's Model United Nations welcomed over 250 students from 20 area schools to its first conference of the year. Clark Professor Srinivasan Sitaraman gave the keynote address. Follow this link to read a student-written press release regarding the conference.
Grandparents Day 2012
Over 300 grandparents and other family members of the Class of 2016 gathered at Saint John's for a brunch and grandson-driven tours of the school. Senior Brian Adams addressed the freshmen grandparents on October 17th before students gave their families an inside look at their new school. Raffle Drive Winners Announced
Thank you to everyone who supported this year's Financial Aid Raffle! Everyone at Saint John's expresses sincere gratitude to those who participated in the drive and congratulates the winners.
Golden Pioneer Brunch & Stone Dedication
Saint John's "Golden Pioneers" gathered on Sunday, September 30 for Mass and a reunion brunch. Prior to Mass, returning members of the class of 1953 and the Foley family witnessed the dedication of the old Saint John's cornerstone.
Mass of the Holy Spirit - Thursday, 9/20
The Annual Mass of the Holy Spirit was held on the morning of September 20th on the Campus Green. The Thomas Merton Award Recipients were recognized at the Mass.
The Saint John's Raffle Drive Gears Up for 2012
Students at Saint John’s are selling raffle tickets through early October to raise money for financial aid. Ten dollars buys a chance at the $10,000 grand prize and other cash prizes.
