Studio Art 3

Art 3 is an independent studio art course.

Students need to keep a Sketchbook/Journal that will be a comprehensive document that shows artistic development and research throughout the course of the semester. The purpose of this book is to record your personally driven research that ties in with your choice of art projects.
*It will be a combination of writing and drawing that must include critiques on/and sketches or printouts of historical and contemporary artworks that inspire you.
*It will also include personal critiques of your own work.
*It will include drawings from observation
    *Thumbnail sketches for future projects.

Journals must have a minimum of four entries per week.

Journals will be checked at the end of each week for a weekly grade.

At the end of each quarter students must write a thoughtful critique of their work over the course of the quarter. They will use their Journal/ Sketchbook to help discuss the projects they worked on. They will explain whether they felt they were successful or not. They will insert images of their work and images of the artists’ work that they used as inspiration. These critiques should include research gathered about art movements and artists used as inspiration.

Art 3 students will be responsible for the bulk of the work involved in Visual Arts Night in April.
