7th Annual Abdella Center for Ethics Speaker Announced

David Rohde is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winning reporter for The New York Times who has covered the conflicts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Israel-Palestine, and the Balkans. He is the co-author of the forthcoming book “A Rope and A Prayer: A Kidnapping from Two Sides” (Viking, November 2010). Among other things, Mr. Rohde will discuss his five part series he wrote for The New York Times on his seven-month captivity with the Taliban, which won him the 2009 George Polk, Michael Kelly, Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism and American Society of Newspaper Editors awards. It was also a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in International Reporting. In May 2010, Brown University, Mr. Rohde’s alma mater, awarded him an honorary Doctor of Letters degree for his work in journalism.

The Abdella Center for Ethics was established by Hon. Charles A. Abdella ’60 in memory of his father, George F. Abdella. The intent of this center is to promote a meaningful dialogue that highlights the importance of ethical values in society. This project will help to enrich the significant contributions of the Xaverian Brothers to American education.
