SJ Film Society
Moderator: Mr. Thomas Duggan

Who doesn’t like movies? That’s the whole idea behind the SJ Film Society. It is a club that has been around for a number of years in various incarnations. Every year a theme is chosen and we try to watch and discuss movies from that theme or genre. In years past we have done themes such as “Oscar Winners” and “Thrillers.” For the 2008-2009 academic year we chose “New Releases” as our theme. Each month we plan to watch a newly released DVD.
The club meets once a month in Conal Hall, room 216, and received permission last year from the administration to serve snacks and allow students to bring bottled drinks. It makes the movie-watching experience all the more fun, almost like being in the theater!
As our theme this year is “New Releases,” we have chosen several new DVD's to watch for the club. Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and 21 have been some of the more popular movies so far this year.
Who knows what next year's theme will be? If you have any thoughts or ideas, or want to be a part of the club, contact me.
