MC CARTHY LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER
From the second floor of the Ryken Center with views of the entire campus, the light-filled John C. and Marie E. McCarthy Library provides a quiet spot for students and faculty to study, read, and research before and after school and during students’ resource periods. The library is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (M-Th) and 7:30 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. It is staffed by three full-time faculty members and includes Mrs. Elizabeth Kavanagh, Director; Mrs. Jean Abdella, Librarian; and Mrs. Jane Harrington, Audio-Visual Director.
The library is a teaching and research facility, and every day individual students and classes receive instruction or assistance in locating and accessing appropriate materials from sources within the library and from outside its brick walls. The mission of the McCarthy Library Media Center is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of resources and information. To this end, the library provides a comprehensive managed collection in all formats that supports and enhances the curricular and co-curricular life of the school, that assists and challenges students in their research and reading, and that meets the personal and professional needs of the staff.
