St. John’s Model United Nations
St. John’s Model United Nations
One often hears Mr. Welch speak of Saint John's itself as a brotherhood, and for those freshmen that haven't, you soon will, but sometimes it's difficult to find this sense of community inside the classroom. Have your ride come an hour later one Tuesday and come experience the excitement that takes place inside the manor house that is the Model U.N. Inside these meetings, global issues and current events are regularly debated and resolved. Freshmen and sophomores meet and befriend upperclassmen, along with some of the best teaching staff in the school.
Meetings for U.N., or more informally known as weeklies, are held almost every Tuesday, 2:30-3:30 in the Manor House behind the Ryken Center and the Flavian Building. Mr. Abdella and Mr. Marsan monitor weeklies, and they are run by student Officers. It's a chance for us to practice procedure, and hone our public speaking skills. Get yourself involved!
You will find that on October 28th, Saint Johns hosts its own Model U.N. conference that all can participate in. There is a multitude of young, beautiful women who are interested in global politics and want to listen to your opinion. Show off your skills during this event and you could be invited to a National Conference...
With success, you may be invited to miss school to travel to a national conference. Here there will be a chance to explore cities like Boston or Chicago, and meet young women from all over the United States.
So much opportunity that begins by going to one meeting
Hope to see you there!
