Middle School Application Process (Grades 7 and 8)

The application deadline for grades 7 and 8 is January 15, 2023. Contact the Admissions Office at (508) 842-8934 ext. 266 or admissions@stjohnshigh.org with any questions or concerns regarding the application process.

  • Create a Ravenna Account

    Saint John's uses Ravenna to manage the application process. Create a free Ravenna account by submitting the Inquiry Form on our website.
  • Grade 7 Admissions Test

    The Grade 7 Admissions Test (EdSeries) is a requirement for all current 6th-grade students seeking 7th-grade admission to the Middle School Division of Saint John's in the fall of 2023. The standardized test is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes long and there is a $50 testing fee. 

    Contact the Admissions Office at admissions@stjohnshigh.org or call 508-842-8934 ext. 266 to schedule a time for your student to take the test during the school day. 
  • Grade 8 Admissions Test

    The Grade 8 Admissions Test (Pre-HSPT) is a requirement for current 7th-grade students seeking 8th-grade admission to the Middle School Division of Saint John's in the fall of 2023. The standardized test is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes long and there is a $50 testing fee.

    The Pre-High School Placement Test (Pre-HSPT) will be offered at Saint John's on the following date:

    Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. 

    Registration for the Grade 8 Admissions Test is available in Ravenna as an application step. For instructions on how to register your student for the exam, click here. If your student plans to take the Pre-HSPT at a different school, please request that the score report be sent to Saint John's High School.

  • Application for Admission

    Please complete the Application for Admission in Ravenna and pay the $40 application fee online. The application deadline for grades 7 and 8 is January 15, 2023. 
  • Student Profile Photo

    Please upload a current photo of your student to his profile in Ravenna, if possible.
  • Student Statement

    The student should complete the student statement form in Ravenna, in his own words. This allows the admissions team to learn more about the applicant and why he would like to attend Saint John’s.
  • Parent Statement

    The student's parent or guardian is asked to complete the parent statement form in Ravenna in order to help us get to know your family better.
  • School Transcripts

    Saint John’s requires grades from the 2021-2022 school year along with the most recent report card from the 2022-2023 school year.

    A parent or guardian must print and sign the Transcript Release Form found in
    Ravenna and submit it to the applicant’s current school. The school will then send your student's transcripts directly to Saint John's. 
  • Recommendation

    The recommendation may come from a current teacher, counselor, or school administrator who knows the applicant well. In Ravenna, input the full name and email address of the person who has agreed to provide the recommendation on behalf of your student. A secure, unique link will be emailed to the delegated individual, allowing them to submit the completed form directly to Saint John’s. Only ONE recommendation is required.
  • Interview

    A formal interview is required for all students applying to grades 7 and 8 at Saint John's. While families are welcome to set up a time to speak to the Director of Admissions about the middle school curriculum and application process, the formal interview cannot take place until all application materials have been received.

    The Admissions Office will reach out to book the interview once all other steps of the application process are complete. Interviews typically last a half-hour and involve both the student and parent/guardian.
  • Middle School Shadow Program

    The Middle School Shadow Program is designed to give prospective students an opportunity to experience the Brother Robert Treanor C.F.X. Middle School Division of Saint John's for a portion of the school day from 8:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Shadow visitors in the middle school division will accompany a current student to homeroom and five academic classes during the 2022-2023 school year. Although the day does not include lunch for our middle school guests, students will be provided with a small snack. While a shadow day is not mandatory, we encourage all prospective students to participate in order to truly get a feel for our school.

Middle School Tuition & Financial Aid

Tuition, including all fees, for new student enrollment in the Bro. Robert Treanor, CFX, Middle School Division of Saint John’s High School for the 2022-2023 school year is $17,265. Financial aid may be available for those who qualify. More information on tuition and financial aid at Saint John's can be viewed here

Applications for financial aid for the 2023-2024 school year will be available in Blackbaud Financial Aid Management beginning November 1, 2022. 

The Financial Aid Committee will consider applications submitted after the application deadline of January 15, but as funds are limited, it is advised that you apply as soon as possible. Award notifications for new students will be included in the Admissions Decision Packet.
