A Letter From the Headmaster

Dear Prospective Students and Families,

We are excited to welcome you to a new and exciting virtual program developed just for you - your
Passport to #BeAPioneer. We want to invite you to join our unique learning community at Saint John’s High School at either our new and burgeoning Br. Robert Treanor, CFX Middle School Division, or in our well-established and respected high school program.

At the center of the success of the Saint John’s community is a challenging academic program supported and enhanced by enduring personal relationships. These relationships, the Brotherhood, are developed between students, with caring and trusted adults, and with the commitment to be a Saint John’s Man. This commitment starts from the moment a young man of great promise steps foot on our campus and lasts until he graduates as a man of outstanding character prepared to meet the next challenge of college and to live a life of meaning and purpose.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be challenging for you to see firsthand the power and impact of those relationships and to see the people who, day in and day out, provide the transformative holistic educational and personal experience that has been a hallmark of Saint John’s for 122 years. We know this series of opportunities to share time with students, faculty, administrators, families, and alumni via zoom will help connect you to who we are and who you will be as part of our Pioneer Community.

We invite you to "stamp" your Passport to #BeAPioneer as we walk this important journey with you, not only for the next few months but also throughout your time as a student and later alumnus of Saint John’s High School.

Gratefully yours,

Alex Zequeira P’19
Headmaster

Academic Programs - High School
Wednesday, December 2, 2020
6:00 - 6:45 PM

The academic curriculum at Saint John's High School is a supportive and demanding college-preparatory program. The program prepares the student to make thoughtful decisions regarding his future in higher education and to prepare him to live a life of meaning and purpose. Although much is made of the subject areas covered and even subject choices made during the four years - and this is important - it must be kept in mind that the goal of the academic education at Saint John's is the fullest development of the intellect of each student using subject matter as tools to attain this end. Join us for a conversation with administrators, faculty, students, and families about our academic program, nationally-recognized Advanced Placement, and STEM programs, and the support available to all students. This particular event is geared towards prospective high school students.

Campus Ministry
Wednesday, December 16, 2020
6:00 - 6:45 PM

The formation of the whole person has been a hallmark of the Saint John’s educational experience for 122 years. Join in a conversation with our Campus Ministry team, students, and families about how our commitment to the spiritual formation of young men from many different faith practices and traditions makes our school a unique educational model for boys in our community.

Athletics & Fine Arts
Thursday, January 14, 2021
6:00 - 6:45 PM

Since the early 1920s, Saint John’s has been committed to providing the opportunity for our young men to express physical and artistic expression through the arts and athletics. In the last 20 years, our commitment to providing state of the art facilities that support equally impressive programmatic offerings in both of these areas continues to set the standard in our community. Join us for a conversation with members of our Fine Arts and Athletic Departments as well as students and families who will share how these opportunities allow our students to develop their God-given talents.

Extracurricular/Student Life
Wednesday, January 27, 2021
6:00 - 6:45 PM

One of the most important and powerful differences in the unique educational model for boys at Saint John’s is our firm belief that education is not confined to the four walls of a classroom during a class period. Rather, an integral part of the Saint John’s experience starts at 2:28 pm - at the end of our academic day. Join a conversation with faculty club moderators, students, and families who will share how their time at our school is significantly impacted (even during the COVID-19 pandemic) by a robust extracurricular and co-curricular program in grades 7-12.

A Conversation with SJ Seniors & Alumni
Wednesday, February 10, 2021
6:00 - 6:45 PM

Thousands of Saint John’s High School students have walked across the stage at graduation in a red cap and gown, but each took a different path to get there. Join a panel of current seniors and alumni who will share their views on the journey to graduation and beyond. Saint John’s is unique because the Brotherhood and connection to the school last a lifetime.
