Good morning Saint John’s students, faculty, and staff.  Let us pause in our day to pray. Today, on the first anniversary of George Floyd's death, let us remember his family and friends and all those who experience different forms of injustices in their lives.
We also pray for Madelyn Marie Brennan - the newborn niece of Mr. Mike Foley, who is undergoing heart surgery at this time, and that she be gifted with good health and a speedy recovery.
(Pause)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
O God of all people: of rich and poor, of young and old, famous and unknown, we come to you in prayer today.
Pour out your Spirit upon us and cleanse our nation of fear and hatred.
Fill us with compassion and peace and a thirst for justice.
Pierce the soul of our nation with your Light, and enlighten everyone with your divine wisdom.
Pierce the soul of our nation with your Light, and blind the demons of violence and hate.
Pierce the soul of our nation with your Light, that our chests draw in the hope:
And our hands grasp with strength
And our innards gird with all their might
And our hearts pump the lifeblood
Of an unlikely, luminous new beginning being born.
In God’s name, we pray. Amen.
Thank you and have a peaceful day!
