Saint John's Releases Strategic Plan for 2023-2028

Dear Saint John’s High School Community,

Midway through my seventh year serving as Headmaster of Saint John’s High School, I have had many opportunities to speak to students, colleagues, families, alumni, and friends of the school about what makes our community special. Though there are too many to name, one particular quality of Saint John’s has always been at the top of this list - we are a school and community that does not stand still. Inspired by our Xaverian value of humility, we know, as the founder of the Xaverian Brothers Theodore James Ryken reminds us, that we as individuals and as an institution are “called to a life of constant searching” in which “we let the developments and changes of (our) times be a source of confidence and challenge to (us).”

This was true in 1894 when four Xaverian Brothers arrived at Union Station in Worcester to work at Saint John’s Grammar School for Boys, as it was in 1961 when the Brothers made the bold decision to move the school to Main Street in Shrewsbury, as it is today with our public release of Purpose, People, and Preparation: A Strategic Plan for Saint John’s High School (2023-2028).

As we prepare for our school’s 125th anniversary next school year, I am grateful to the many hands, minds, hearts, and voices who contributed to this plan. I invite you to visit our website to read through the plan - one that will continue to position Saint John’s as a premier all-boys Catholic school with a storied past but an equally vibrant future serving boys and young men in our community.

I ask that we all join in our continued prayers for our beloved Xaverian Brothers and for the mission and community of Saint John’s High School.

May God continue to bless you and yours,

Alex Zequeira P’19
