Engineering Pioneers: Makerspace Unveiling

From weather balloons to 3D printing, SJ students are embracing engineering in the new Makerspace lab.

This summer kicks off an exciting new initative engaging Saint John's High School. Students interested in engineering, robotics, technology, and design will have a new space to collaborate and create. The school plans to overhaul space in the Ryken Center specifically geared to expand our engineering curriculum and robotics program.

Students, faculty, and alumni  started the conversation rolling with the unveiling of the new Makerspace on June 22. Along with students and faculty, guests were encouraged to participate in round-table discussions to help shape the future of Saint John’s science and engineering programs.

Couldn't make the event? Check out the live stream and you can listen along and share your ideas with us. Engineering, design, and creativity is a collaborative experience, and we want your input on the new Makerspace, Engineering at Saint John's High School, robotics, technology, and more!

Log in to the live stream of the presentation and share your thoughts and questions about the program.

Student Capstone Project: Weather Balloon

In May, Engineering students were tasked to design, launch, track, and recover a weather balloon payload capable of taking pictures of Saint John's High School from 15 to 20 miles in the air.

The teams succesfully accomplished their goal, and put together a video of the project from concept to recovery!
