MAKE A SPLASH! at the Saint John's High School Gala

The 20
21 Saint John's Gala has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 10, 2021.

For more details on our rescheduling, please click here

The mission of the Saint John's Gala is to celebrate the founding of Saint John’s High School and pays tribute to the Xaverian Brothers, lay faculty, staff and the generations of Saint John’s alumni and the parents whose dedication and sacrifice have made Saint John’s the prominent school that it is today. Proceeds from the Gala will enhance the school’s scholarship fund, thereby benefiting future generations of Saint John’s students. Please join us for this special evening as we celebrate all that we are as a Xaverian Brothers sponsored school.

Each year, the Saint John's community gathers to celebrate alumni, parents, and friends of the school who have made an impact on Saint John's students. In addition to being a night honoring those who have contributed to the Saint John's experience, the Gala is our key fundraising event that consists of a Silent Auction and Pioneers Care with opportunities to support the school in many ways. The Gala is one of Saint John's most anticipated traditions!

Volunteer Opportunities

List of 7 items.

  • Sponsorship Committee

This committee is responsible for identifying and securing sponsors and Gala program book advertisers , tracking and administration, as well as the sponsorship displays for the night of the Gala.
  • Decoration Committee

Works with the Gala theme for appropriate decoration throughout the school, including:
    • Floral arrangements for hallways, entrances, tables
    • Centerpieces, linens and table décor
    • Typically many volunteers are needed the Friday before the Gala for set up and the Sunday after for tear down.
    • The team usually kicks off in January with an all-hands volunteer meeting to discuss ideas.
  • Honoree Committee

Each committee member shall take ownership of one or more of the honorees.

The committee should begin gathering biographical information, photos, articles, and Saint John’s memorabilia as early as possible. All this information should be shared with the Storyboard committee which will design and display the Honorees’ memorabilia.

The committee writes a profile of each honoree which will be printed in the event Program Book. It is important to keep the length of the bios consistent between honorees.
  • Invitation Committee

The team manages the assembly and mailing of the invitations to invited guests.
The team is responsible for assembling the nametags and registration packet the last days prior to the Gala.

The committee manages the registration and reception area during the cocktail reception the night of the event.
  • Logistics Committee

Committee members are responsible for setting up the gym, lobby, and cafeteria on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and break down and clean up on Sunday morning.
  • Silent Auction

There are many pieces that are coordinated by the Silent Auction committee to ensure a successful auction – from soliciting auction items, to tracking items and donor information, to putting auction items into packages, to preparing the auction tables/displays the day of the Gala and establishing procedures for the check-out process. This committee works on all of these tasks to make the auction a fun, successful and profitable part of the Gala.
Committee members will make follow-up calls.

A committee member should be responsible for database entry and assigning package numbers.

A committee member should be designated ownership of the online auction promotion and closure prior to the Gala.

The committee coordinates the Preview Book of all silent auction items for all guests to use while “shopping” at the auction.

The committee coordinates and operates the check-in and check-out procedures the night of the Gala.
  • Storyboard Committee

The committee creates the large standing banners to showcase the honorees during the Gala.

The team works closely with the honoree team to obtain a feel for the honoree’s biography and contributions to Saint John’s.

This is a creative opportunity for anyone who may have some graphic design experience and is willing to work with the graphic company who prints the storyboard.

Silent Auction

"Every student at Saint John's has earned the opportunity to be there. Not every student at Saint John’s can, alone, afford to be there."

Our goal for the Gala is to generate $140,000 for financial aid. There are several ways to help: a Gala Sponsorship, Program Advertisement, or a Silent Auction donation.

As a sponsor, advertiser, or auction donor of an item or gift valued greater than $1,000, we will prominently display your business or family name in our Gala Program Book. We encourage you to look over the enclosed donor form and choose a way you can help to make the Silent Auction and Saint John’s Gala a success. Please remember that the fair market value of your donation is tax-deductible. Thank you in advance for considering a donation to Saint John’s High School.

Gala Sponsorships

It is because of the generosity of people like you that students accepted to Saint John’s are chosen based on their merit and not on their financial means. Saint John's High School is committed to students from a diversity of backgrounds, and committed to providing opportunities to families in need.

The Gala is one of Saint John’s most significant fundraising events. Even though Saint John’s tuition is less than the actual cost of providing a quality education, the need for financial assistance has grown. Without this aid, many of these talented boys would not be able to receive the education they deserve and want.

The 2019 Gala helped us raise over $120,000 which directly supported Financial Aid at Saint John’s. We thank you!

Pioneers Care

Pioneers Care is a special fund that will be available to assist students from families who experience mid-year financial difficulties (loss of job, illness in family, loss of parent, etc.). Pioneers Care will be there no matter what curve balls life throws us.

There are programs that are integral to a Saint John’s education but come at an additional cost beyond what tuition covers. For example, Global Encounter trips, retreats, Model UN conferences, the Young Writers Conference, and more all require sacrifices from students and families. All Saint John’s students should be able to experience these transformational programs and Pioneers Care is there to make sure they are able to.
Whether it is a student needing assistance to participate in an immersion trip with the world language program, a sophomore looking for additional resources to afford a text book, or an  athlete on the track team who simply can’t afford to purchase a pair of running sneakers, Pioneers Care ensures that all students, no matter their socioeconomic background, feels a part of and included in all that Saint John’s has to offer its students.
