Safety at Saint John's

The safety and security of our students at Saint John’s is, and always will be, our primary concern. The issue of child abuse or any sort of misconduct is one that Saint John's High School takes very seriously. All Xaverian Brother Sponsored Schools, including Saint John's High School have implemented appropriate safety policies and procedures to prevent and respond to the goal of providing a safe and nurturing environment where all of our students can learn, grow, and develop their God-given gifts and talents.

Community Safety Requirements

As part of the on-boarding and orientation for all of the adults who are in contact with our students (faculty, staff, administration, coaches, and volunteers), the school requires the following background checks:

  • Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check, performed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, Department of Criminal Justice Information Services, when first employed and every three years after that start date.
  • Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check, performed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board, when first employed and every three years after that start date.
  • A Statewide Fingerprint Identification service, performed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, Department of Criminal Justice Information Services, when first employed.  This is a criminal history search of the Massachusetts State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation databases.
  • Additionally, our faculty, staff, and administration engages in ongoing, yearly training, on campus safety and security and their role as a mandated reporter to the state.
  • Lastly, the school annually reviews the Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan found in the Student and Family and Faculty and Staff Handbooks and its Crisis Response Plan.

In addition to the listing above for the adults within our community, a
ll students (grades 7-12) are expected to complete the Circle of Grace safe environment training in their religious studies classes as provided by the Diocese of Worcester.
