Pioneers Tie Catholic Memorial in Back-and-Forth Match

The 7th grade soccer game ended in a 4-4 tie after a well-fought battle on the field against Catholic Memorial. The Pioneers put a lot of pressure on the CM goalkeeper throughout the first half, but found themselves down 2-0 to end the first half. Saint John's started the second half eager to get on the scoreboard. Their first goal of the half came from co-captain Gus Moreira on a perfectly-placed penalty shot. CM responded with a goal of their own, followed by back-to-back goals from Adarsh Radesh and Moreira. With the score tied at 3-3 CM took the lead one more time. Alex Levchuk found the back of the net with a few minutes remaining to bring the final score to 4-4. Goalkeeper Gabriel Valencia had a number of big saves to keep Saint John's in the game. Saint John's takes the field again on Thursday as they face the Hawks of St. John's Prep.
