SJ at Catholic Memorial - Race Summary

St. John’s wins big over Catholic Memorial
 
On a cool and partly cloudy day at Boston’s iconic Franklin Park cross country course the St. John’s Pioneers ran to an impressive 20-39 win over the Catholic Memorial Knights.
 
Leading the way for the Pioneers was senior co-captain Tommy Robinson who cruised to an easy victory over the rolling 5k course in a time of 17:23.
 
Following Robinson in a close knit pack of 3 was sophomore Arnav Chatterjee in third place in 18:00 followed closely by senior Sev Smith in fourth place in 18:11 and sophomore Luke Depeter in 18:12 for 5th place. Rounding out the scoring for the SJ thinclads was junior Teddy Morris in 7th place in a time of 19:20.
 
In the JV contest, the Pioneers swept the Knights 15-49 by taking the top 5 places in their contest. Senior Chase Brush was the winner of the race in a time of 20:48.
 
In the Freshmen race, despite losing 25-34, St. John’s Jackson Mitchell continued his winning ways by outdistancing his nearest competitor in a competitive race  by 4 seconds  to secure the victory on the 3k course in  a very fast time of 11:34. Following Mitchell was classmate Blake Rice who finished 4th in a time of 12:50. Rounding out the scoring for the frosh were Sean Hoban in 10th place in a time of 13:50 with Tanmay Jain in 14:57 and Tyler Horrigan in 15:03.
 
The Pioneers next meet will be their final home meet of the season when they host the Malden Catholic Lancers on Tuesday, October 3 @ 4:00 PM.
