Senior Spotlight - Ryan Hartt

Coach DeNorscia
This week's "Senior Spotlight": Ryan Hartt
Each week (or so) we will be shining the spotlight on each of our senior wrestlers. This week we put Captain Ryan Hartt on the "hot seat".

Ryan lives in Upton with his Brother John. He is the son of Sean & Sara Hartt

BEST WRESTLING MOMENT:
RH - While wrestling against Sharon High School my freshman year, the final match came down to me. I won my match but more importantly, my win got St. John's the team victory.

GOALS FOR THE CURRENT WRESTLING SEASON:
RH - My longtime goal is to win a tournament. It's been my goal since i started wrestling freshman year. Along the way this season, I plan to place at each tournament I wrestle in this season.

WHO HAS HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR WRESTLING CAREER:
RH - The 2012 - 2013 Saint John's Wrestling Team had the biggest impact on me. The team consisted of the toughest kids I've ever been around. As a Freshman wrestler, they showed me what hard work was all about.

BEST NON WRESTLING MOMENT AT STJ:
RH - Going on KAIROS as a junior. I learned so many things about myself. Many I was not even aware of.

OTHER THAN WRESTLING (AND SCHOOLWORK) WHAT OTHER ACTIVITIES ARE YOU INVOLVED IN AT STJ:
RH - I play lacrosse and last year I went out for the tennis team. St. John's has been a great place with so many strong role models. I have learned so much from them especially how to be a better leader.

WHAT ARE YOUR POST SAINT JOHN'S PLANS:
RH - I will be going to college next year and hope to study Engineering. I plan to keep the same mentality that I have learned during my wrestling career to help make me successful in college.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER TEAMMATES OR OTHERS THAT MAY BE CONSIDERING WRESTLING AT STJ:
RH - Hard work never resulted in anyone feeling sorry for themselves. You are the only one who can determine how bad you want it and how hard you're willing to work to get it!

DESCRIBE THE IMPACT WRESTLING HAS HAD ON THE OTHER AREAS OF YOUR LIFE:
RH - Believe it or not, wrestling has had a very positive impact on my schoolwork. When I first came out for the team, the other wrestlers told me that I would have to work hard on & off the mat and that I would have to keep my grades up. This advice really helped me to focus on being a good student. Wrestling has also really helped my overall work ethic. Having to perform during extremely tough situations has made me stronger.

DESCRIBE WRESTLING IN ONE WORD:
RH - Radical

ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW:
RH - Wrestling has been the hardest thing that I have ever done. I believe that there will be few things that I will encounter during my life that will be more difficult than wrestling and as a result, I will be much better prepared because of wrestling.

THANKS RYAN, NOW GET OUT THERE AND EARN THAT TOURNAMENT BRACKET!
