Good morning Saint Johns students, faculty and staff. Let us pause in our day to pray.
What impressed the people the most about Jesus’ teaching in today’s Gospel was the way in which he spoke. The words that came out of his mouth were “gracious” and without condemnation. Jesus delivered his words with a sense of hope and we must too. Words are so powerful. When they tumble out of our mouths, they have energy and power to either encourage or to humiliate others.
We also pray in a special way for all our students and faculty attending their Kairos retreat that they have a meaningful experience.
(pause)
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Lord, I know my tongue often gets ahead of my mind and heart. I am quick to speak and I repent of the many thoughtless things I have spoken. I am sorry for words I have spoken in anger or in gossip. Please help me to see when I am about to speak without thinking and to check my heart. Help me be slow to speak. Help me Lord to be a person full of loving words, full of your Spirit, overflowing with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control. Amen.
Thank you and have a glorious day.
