"Twelve Angry Men" debate justice, truth, and bias

The winter production of this classic courtroom drama hit the SJ stage.

Following a few snow storms, cast and crew took to the stage and sound booth for Saint John's Theater's Winter 2017 production of Twelve Angry Men. The show ran on February 10th and 11th to full audiences.

The cast of twelve had a special audience, when about 250 7th and 8th grade students from St. Mary’s school in Shrewsbury and Grafton Middle school were bused to campus for a special student matinee performance of the show. Many of these students studied the play at their middle schools and were thoroughly engaged and entertained during the hour and forty five minute presentation.  Students and teachers alike were impressed with the commitment and overall professional quality of the production.

Students then participated in a talk back with the cast and director about their experience in preparing for the presentation and their characters.

Is Justice Truly Blind?

After Friday night’s show that vast majority of the audience stayed for a talk back with the cast moderated by director and SJ morality teacher Richard Monroe titled Is Justice Truly Blind? Social Class and Personal Bias in "Twelve Angry Men".

The audience made up of students, faculty, family and friends discussed the aspects of the play that most resonated with them.  Many wonderful points were raised and questioned in the conversation spreading over a vast constituency.
