Stories of hope and resurrection in Holy Week
Before Easter break, students and faculty shared reflections on struggles and revival.
During the moving Holy Week Prayer Service, students Parker Browne, Ronald Pena, and Thomas Heath and English teacher Ms. Katherine Guercio shared deeply personal and resonant stories of the crosses they bear. They inspired standing ovations from the school community through their reflections on finding hope for resurrection - the light in the darkness - from others in their lives.
Students led the school community in reflections along the themes from the stations of the cross and related those universal struggles to the unique crosses in own lives. Following Jesus' journey on the cross, Parker, Ronald, and Tommy spoke of "taking up the cross," Veronica wiping the face of Jesus, and the darkness of the crucifixion, before arriving at the hope of the resurrection.
Musical pieces by English teachers Ms. Diane Mulligan and Mr. Bill White '83, as well at the Saint John's Chorus provided moments of reflection and reverence after each talk.
