POSITION:
Saint John’s High School is seeking a full-time or part-time Spanish teacher with flexibility for teaching Grades 7-12. The candidate should have a strong background in his/her subject matter (Spanish Language), demonstrated pedagogical skills, and a commitment to understanding how adolescent boys learn. We are open to candidates who can teach other World Languages and/or academic disciplines in addition to having expertise in Spanish. Saint John’s values diversity, and we look for candidates who are knowledgeable in their field, as well as being compassionate, dedicated, and eager to collaborate with students, faculty, and staff alike.
The ideal candidate will guide our students as they develop their understanding of the grammatical structures and vocabulary of the Spanish Language, as well as their ability to speak, read, and write Spanish. World language instructors at Saint John’s also impart an understanding of different cultures as part of a call to better understand an increasingly global world. The teacher will be responsible for the implementation of curricula, designing assessments that measure student progress and achievement, using assessment data to inform instructional practices, and participating in collaborative activities. We seek candidates who view World Language classes as opportunities to develop curiosity and empathy in their students for different cultures and those who speak a different language from themselves. In addition to regular classroom duties, the selected candidate should have a desire to contribute to the school community by sharing his/her passions through participating in extracurricular activities, such as coaching teams, directing clubs, or supervising student activities.
