In a meeting with faculty and staff and in a community-wide communication, Alex Zequeira has announced his departure as the Headmaster of Saint John’s High School, at the end of the next school year in June 2024. Zequeira’s strong leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on the school community.
Under Zequeira’s leadership, Saint John’s High School successfully implemented new academic programs and spaces, renovated and expanded campus facilities, successfully managed the COVID-19 global pandemic as the largest school in the state to be fully open, in-person, five days a week during the 2020-2021 school year, opened the Br. Robert Treanor, CFX Middle School Division, and published Purpose, People, and Preparation: A Strategic Plan for Saint John’s High School 2023-2028. His steadfast dedication to fostering a nurturing and inclusive educational environment has empowered countless young men to excel academically, grow personally and spiritually, and become compassionate leaders in their communities.
Zequeira came to Saint John’s in 2016 after serving five years as the president of Nativity School of Worcester, a school he helped found in 2003 when he served as Principal.

I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to the final thirteen months of my time at the school continuing to focus on the growth and strategic vision set forth by our community. I have no doubt that the future holds even greater achievements for this remarkable institution.”
