From the Athletic Director

As Director of Athletics, I would like to welcome you to the Saint John’s Athletic Program.  I look forward to getting to know you as we journey together and continue the rich tradition at Saint John’s, both in the classroom and in competition.
As the Athletic Director at Saint John’s, I believe the athletic program should be guided by the following goals:

  1. To carry on Catholic education, deeply rooted in the commitment of Xaverian Brothers.
  2. To create a positive experience for every student-athlete and coach that will bring a sense of community and pride to all our teams.
  3. To produce an environment that ensures high ethical standards and expectations for fairness, equity, and sportsmanship for all our student-athletes and coaches.

This is an exciting time at Saint John’s High School. We must be committed to providing every student-athlete with a quality experience so that they get the most out of their Saint John’s education.  Our students must be taught to play hard, play fair, and dedicate themselves to be the best they can be, buts most importantly, have fun. The rewards will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Sincerely,
Patrick J. White
Director of Athletics

Tryouts

All students must have a valid physical on file, BEFORE they try out. If your son has a physical completed during the school year, please send in an updated copy. Physicals are valid for 13 months. Your doctor may have a form that they use, which is acceptable. A copy of the state physical form can be found here. There is no need to send in a duplicate of an up-to-date physical that is already on file.

All candidates must fill out the pre-participation concussion form and must take the MIAA required concussion course before they can try out.  Bring confirmation that both you and your parent have successfully completed the course to the try-out meeting or they may be mailed to Mr. Patrick White, Athletic Director.

Health Requirements

  • All candidates should make sure their physical form is updated and registered in the Nurse's Office.
  • The concussion test must be taken once per year.
  • Pre-concussion forms should be completed every session.

All student-athletes must have a current physical examination on file in the Nurse's Office in order to tryout and participate in the athletic program. The submitted physical exams must be current (having occurred within the last 13 months)
