Good morning, St. John’s students, faculty, and staff. Let us pause in our day to pray. In today's gospel, a woman seen by society as a sinner approaches Jesus, and with tender love, washes his feet. Rather than wallowing in sin, she treats Jesus with tenderness seeking forgiveness and understanding. The gospel reminds us that God wants mercy for us and from us. Let us take a moment with Jesus to experience his tender love.
(Pause)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
God of Mercy, I am sorry for the ways I have fallen short of loving as I should,  or spending my time judging others or comparing myself to others, rather than looking for your love at work in my life and cooperating in sharing that love with others. Help me to see with tenderness, hear with tenderness, think with tenderness, feel with tenderness, speak with tenderness, and act with tenderness.  Remind me that when I fall short, you are never tired of forgiving me. Help me to forgive as readily as you forgive me so that I can be your tenderness in the world today.
Amen.
Thank you and have a splendid day.
