SJ Harriers race competitively at the Bay State Invitational
On a muggy and overcast fall morning, the SJ Pioneers traveled to Willard Field in Devens MA, to compete in the annual Bay State Invitational, the site of this year’s All State XC Championships.
Over a rolling 5k course, in one of three Varsity races contested, the thinclads scored 120 points to finish 5th out of 11 teams in their division.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was senior co-captain Tommy Robinson securing a 7th place finish in 16:59.7. Finishing behind Robinson in 24th place in a time of 17:47 was sophomore Luke DePeter, followed closely by fellow classmate Arnav Chatterjee in 17:53 for a 28th place finish.
Rounding out the scoring for St. John’s was senior Seve Smith in 39th place in a time of 18:36 followed closely by junior Teddy Morris in 18:40 to finish 40th.
In the JV contest, over the same 5k course, freshmen Jackson Mitchell finished 8th overall in a personal best time of 18:47 helping the thinclads to a 15th place out of 24 teams.
The Pioneers next meet is on Tuesday, October 10 @ 3:45 pm when they travel to Franklin Park to take on BC High.
