SJ goes back-to-back with undefeated seasons by taking down Oak Middle School to wrap up the 2023 season

Coach Smith
The Saint John's 8th Grade Soccer Team travelled a short distance to The Oak Middle School in Shrewsbury on Tuesday to play their last game of the season. The game started out in a deadlock with SJ getting most of the run of play into the Shrewsbury half. Finally the floodgates started to open with a PK drawn by Javan Premaj on a nice run down the goal-line in the Shrewsbury box which drew a foul and PK. Eli White finished the PK to make it 1-0 heading into halftime. In the 2nd half, Eli White stepped in to play goalkeeper and quickly made an impact by assisting Danny Kristo on a long punt to give Danny a breakaway goal making the score 2-0. Danny then made it 2-0 on a nice assist from David DaSilva where Danny had to make a strong second effort after the keeper originally saved the shot. Shrewsbury found the net 1 time in the 2nd half, but then Danny Kristo sealed the deal with his 3rd goal of the game. The final score was 4-1, capping the 18th win for this squad through their middle school run of 7th and 8th grade. They remained undefeated over the 2 years despite playing every Catholic Conference team twice each year. Quite a feat for this squad and we are excited to see what they bring to the high school level in the coming years.
