Saint John's Christens Blue Devil

Saint John's blesses new crew shell on September 23.

On Saturday, September 23, Saint John’s High School christened its newest crew shell: Blue Devil. This wonderful gift came to fruition through the generous support of Charlie and Christine Eppinger P’89,’92 and over 30 alumni, parents, and grandparents.

Having rowed all four years as a Saint John’s Pioneer, Charlie and Christine’s son, Tom Eppinger ’89 went on to Duke where he rowed four more years a Blue Devil, and was honored in his senior year as an academic All-American by U.S. Rowing. His wife, Tara, also rowed for Duke. The newest shell as part of the Saint John’s fleet will honor his history as a collegiate rower.

Brother Paul Feeney, C.F.X. blessed the shell and remarks were provided by Athletic Director, Patrick White ‘H, Headmaster Alex Zequeira P’19, and lead benefactor Charlie Eppinger P’89,’92. Crew alumni in attendance, including Tom Eppinger ’89, Coach Nick Guida ’10, and John Woods ’16 joined members of the current crew team for an inaugural row in Blue Devil.
